SCHOOLS OUT FOR CHRISTMAS!!!!

YEAH!!! Today was the last day of school until January 3rd. I am so excited and so tired. Those first graders are exhausting. I am ready for bed and it's only 8 pm. We had a lovely night before Christmas party. Yesterday we made chocolate chip cookies and then I stayed after school and baked like 12 trays of cookies. Today we ate the cookies with our hot coco. It was a very busy day because all morning long we made gingerbread houses. Boy was that a sight. The kids did really well, though. I had a really fun time with them this week. I love teaching first grade!!

Cornerstone Christmas

On Thursday, December 8th our family attended our church banquet. It was a bit trying since we had to wait to eat until 7 pm. Reece usually eats around 5:30-6:00. While waiting for the food and festivities to begin; we tried to get him to sit with Santa & Mrs. Claus. He wanted nothing to do with that funny looking man in a red suit. He sat for a second and the tried to slide off Santa's lap. He was a quite hungry and little bit tired. When we brought the food to him he was so excited and ate a ton of bow tie pasta. He was trying so hard to eat with his fork; just like the Russo girls who were sitting around him. Check out the pictures of him. Even as a little punk he is still adorable.

Favorite Part of Being a Mom

I think being a mom is one of the most amazing experiences I continually appreciate. When Reece is teething he is extra lovey and a little bit more needy. At night I'll hear him crying out in discomfort. The only thing that seems to sooth him is laying his head on Mommy's chest while rocking in a chair in his room. Tonight was a night I could have sat up there all evening. It's a wonderful feeling, to hold and comfort your baby; especially since he is 14 months old and growing up way to fast. :(

Yeah! I saw RENT!

Thanks to my friend Jessica; I was able to accompany her, her husband and bunch of other great friends to the movie. Yes, Mo came along too. I was able to have one of my previous students baby-sit Reece. First time an adolescent came to our home to baby-sit. No worries from this mom though, all she had to do was put him to bed. They did great! Our RENT evening started at the New York, New York Casino for dinner so we could set the stage and feel like we were in New York City. The Mexican food was delicious, sharing fajitas is always a safe bet. Mo had a beer in a souvenir cup with a straw; that part didn't feel very New Yorkish. After scarfing down tons of chips, salsa and our food, we walked over to the United Artists movie theater. Yes, outside across Las Vegas Blvd., which is very similar to the traffic in NYC. Jess took pictures all night long, can't wait to see how we looked stopping traffic. The movie theater wasn't that crowded for an opening night and no stadium seating. I didn't realize how much I appreciated that comfort. The company made up for it. I told Mo he could take a nap if he wanted. He stayed awake for most all of it. He missed the best scene with Law and Order actor Jesse L. Martin. It's ok though because he toughed it out and came with me. The movie was terrific, it's hard to compare a movie to a Broadway musical. The actors did a fabulous job but why wouldn't they; most of them were the original Broadway cast. After the movie, everyone went back to the NY, NY to have dessert and discuss the details of the movie. I felt bad for my sitter and had a horrible headache so Mo and I headed home. It was a fantastic evening, even though I came home with a migraine. Two date nights within five days; am I spoiled or what?

Weekend update

I haven't posted in a while cuz life has been pretty hectic here. Sunday's seem to be the best day to post news about the Hauguel family.
Reece has been quite a little busy body lately. He certainly is enjoying his simple life as a 14 month old. Yesterday he hung out with Daddy. Mo has been coaching the JV team at Calvary Chapel and they had their end of the season party. Reece played in the big jumper thingy and had a ball. He is quite the curious little boy and was into everything. He loves to play outside, so I'm sure he had a wonderful time. Mo said he was very tired after chasing after him all day.

Mo and I were able to go out on a date last night. The first in a long time. We dined at Cheesecake Factory and had our favorite treats. Then we headed to the Suncoast to see the movie "Two For The Money" with Matthew McConaughey and Al Pacino. I enjoyed it very much. Any movie with hottie Matthew McConaughey is worth the $9.50. Yikes when did the price of movies get so high? Reece had a great time playing with his friends Parker, Hunter, Zack, Megan and Amaya.

Mo is getting ready to head to his ACSI conference in California. He will return Wednesday morning. Life will be pretty quiet without him around. Reece and I will be spending some good mommy and son time. How nice for us.

I have three days of school this week and then I get a 4 day holiday break for Thanksgiving. My brother Brian and his girlfriend Kara will be coming to visit us from San Diego, California. I look forward to hanging out with them. Brian is such comic relief from the hum drum of everyday life. I will cook a turkey and stovetop stuffing as he requested. We will also hang out with the Dahir Family. I hope to go see the movie RENT over the holiday break. Anyone intrested in joining me since my hubby has no desire to see it?

Halloween Pictures

Here are some of my favorite photo's that my friend Jessica took of my adorable son. Isn't he the cutest fireman you've ever seen?

Sunday Morning

What a great Sunday morning I'm having! My son woke at 5:30 am YiKES! I bring him into my bed to cuddle and sleep some more. (Oh Mo is at the hump and bump.) He stays put until about 6:30. Then I let him watch Disney and run a muck with the basket of toys in my bed room. He gets bored and figures out how to pull down the door handle and escape the confines of my bed room. What a smart little guy. Then he tests he new skill on some other doors. He quietly figures out how to open the pantry. He thinks Dublin is outside and he proceeds to get her a cookie from the box on the floor of the pantry. Then all of sudden I hear him yelling DOGGIE, DOGGIE and then I hear the banging of the dog biscuit on the glass sliding door. I guess I better get up before bottle of pasta sauce end up on my kitchen floor. As I am pulling myself out of bed Reece walks into my bedroom with the dog biscuit in his mouth. Oh the JOYS of motherhood!! I fed him his usual banana and milk for breakfast while making a pot of coffee. I figured I would need it since I've been half awake since 5:30. Reece and I read some books and then he went back to bed. I tried but the smell of the coffee was killing me, I needed it now! So here I sit typing this great story to my friends with my coffee and cinnamon raisin bagel. Keith Urban plays in the background while a quiet 13 month old sleeps soundly! This has to be the best Sunday morning in a long time! God is good. He knows I may not make it church this morning. So he has provided my own sanctuary here in my home. I just thought I would share.
