Check your attitude...

WOW, Kindergarten is exhausting!  I feel like I am always repeating myself and asking the students to be quiet.  It has been 2 years since I have had my own classroom; I have forgotten so many things. I have had to take several deep breathes throughout the morning and at lunch I feel like I need a nap.  I try so hard to be calm and positive but I saw this reminder and it really hit home.

Happy 7th Birthday Raine Roo

You are an amazing little girl!  When we asked you what you wanted to do for your birthday you asked to go to the Mini Grand Prix.  You love to drive the race cars and ride the rides, especially the slide.  You just kept going up and down and up and down.  It was a really nice Sunday, not too busy and not too hot.  For dinner, you asked if we could go to Mimi's Cafe.  You love to eat mac n cheese there, well anywhere, that is your favorite food.  You also love playing with Barbies and were very excited that you received a Malibu Barbie and Ken.  Reece gave you a fun kit which allows you to color and design your own Barbie dresses. I baked and frosted your bday cake with the hot pink frosting you requested but then daddy took over.  He did all of the awesome lettering and flowers.  It was so sweet and delicious.  We love celebrating you sweet heart!

Superheros Unite

Reece and daddy hit up the comic book store to pick out a few things he might like for his 9th birthday.  Toys R Us has some of the best Superhero masks.  

Mo couldn't stop laughing when I snuck up on him and asked him to take our picture.

Full Moons

I am so excited to be teaching Kindergarten this year.  It is a new beginning for me in this 17th year of teaching.  I like change; God knows that and he has protected me.  I hope to honor him even more this year than any other.  I look forward to many warm words from five year olds.  They have such a zest for life and love everything about it.  I hope it is contagious and brings me the joy I have missed the past few years.

Fishing on the bay

We rented a pontoon boat from 1:30-5:30 and it was an awesome experience.  The kids were even catching fish left and right.  Aubrey caught 8 fish all by herself.  Reece loved playing with the sand sharks everyone caught.  Raine took a nice long nap and then swam in the bay.  I sat and read my book or enjoyed watching everyone fish. It was a lovely way to spend the day.

Wordless Wednesday

Fun in the Sun in OBX

We had some sketchy weather while we stayed at Nags Head, Outer Banks but it was still awesome!  I loved being able to walk out the back door and enjoy a cup of coffee while sitting on the sand.  The ocean current was a bit rough and would often pull Reece across the water.  He had a hard week playing in the sand and water with the cut on his foot.  Reece did enjoy boogie boarding with Cordan but said the water was freezing. 

Happy 4th of July

We had a very relaxing 4th of July with the McDonnell clan.  The boys spent the morning and better part of the afternoon catching fish off a small bridge over the sound.  Reece was taught had to gut and fillet a fish by the queen of the little bridge.  The boys dissected fish for hours.  The girls made their 

holiday t-shirts to wear for the firework show at mile marker 12.  Mo and Sean had a great reunion with their fraternity brother Dan.  It was different from Ocean City 4th of July but still a wonderful day. 

Sunsets over the lake

On Wednesday and Thursday night we watched the most perfect sunsets over Lake Ontario.  There wasn't a single cloud in the sky the first night and the few clouds tonight made some really pretty colors in the sky.  Raine was capturing the beauty by taking pics on her new iPod. I couldn't resist catching a pic of her taking a pic, I love how pretty that picture is.

Kansas to Buffalo

Only 2 more hours to go and we will be eating pizza & wings!

We were very excited to see this giant cross along the I70, we see them along I40 also.

Mo and Reece had to get a pic at the rest area in Missouri.

It was such a good two days of travel from Leslie's in Olathe, KS to a Holiday Inn in Richmond, Illinois and then finally to my mom's house.  Reece and Raine were excellent passengers, reading watching movies and even did some school work.  I love summer road trips.
